Dean Boysen

Artistic Director, Trumpets and Flugelhorn, Composer and Arranger

Dean Boysen is a trumpeter, composer and arranger and serves as the Artistic Director for the BRAZZISSIMO! 10-piece brass ensemble. He has been writing and performing for the ensemble for twenty-four years contributing in excess of forty original compositions and arrangements. In addition to his brass dectet music, he also writes original material and arranges for the brass quintet and trio, woodwind ensembles, big band, and orchestra. Dean began playing professionally at the age of 16 (1974) which included nightclub Top 40-type band work, Marriott’s Great America theme park musician, and that of studio musician (1976 -1983). His record album credits number in the dozens. He was a signed recording artist with the group Collage under the SOLAR records label, distributed by MCA Records. He has recorded with many popular national recording artists and has played for various shows such as the The Bay Area Music Awards – Bammies (1979 – 1982), and concerts with The Four Tops, Sylvester, Huey Lewis, Third World, Dr. Loco’s Rockin’ Jalapeño Band, The Temptations, etc. (Discography link below)

(1977) Marvin Nelson – Music Director at California State University Hayward, and Principal/Assistant Trumpet of the Oakland Symphony.
