French Horn
Dr. Bill Harrington is a longtime music educator and professional French horn player in the Bay Area. As a professional musician, he has performed on French horn with virtually every professional orchestra in the greater Bay Area including serving as Principal Horn of the the California Symphony, and West Edge Opera for twelve years. He currently plays with the Modesto Symphony, the Brassworks of San Francisco Brass Quintet and Band, and most recently, Opera San Jose, Lamplighters Operetta Company, and Livermore Opera.
Dr. Harrington graduated with a four-year full scholarship from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where he studied horn with A. David Krehbiel, and an M.A. in Music from California State University East Bay where he studied with David Sprung.
As a music educator, he holds a California Lifetime Teaching Credential in Music, graduated from Boston University with a Doctorate in Music Education, and is a two time President of the California Orchestra Directors Association (CODA). Teaching at Cal State University East Bay, “Dr. Bill,” directs the East Bay Youth Orchestras (EBYO), teaches classes in music education, and conducts field supervision for music credential candidates in the schools. A strong advocate for chamber music, Dr. Bill is Director of the Sequoia Chamber Music Workshop every summer on the campus of Cal Poly Humboldt.
