John DeGiglio

French Horn

John DeGiglio began playing the horn at age 10 after he was told by his family that his first choice instrument would never be allowed in the house (trombone!). He went on to graduate from Ithaca College where he studied horn performance with John Covert, Bill Bernatis and Patrick Hughes.

John is currently the principal horn in Golden Gate Symphony Orchestra in San Francisco and is a regular member of Symphony Parnassus and ImpromptuSF. He has appeared as a soloist with the San Francisco Civic Strings Orchestra and has performed as a member of San Francisco Civic Symphony, Mozart to Mendelssohn Orchestra, Sonoma County Philharmonic, New Millennium Chamber Orchestra, Contra Costa Chamber Orchestra, Redwood Symphony, Golden Gate Park Band and various chamber ensembles throughout the San Francisco Bay area.

An avid fan of chamber music, John is a regular attendee of the Humboldt Brass Chamber Music Workshop and has coordinated various chamber music community events in San Francisco. He has also studied chamber music at the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music.

Originally from Vermont, John moved to San Francisco with his dog in 2013, where they both distinctly enjoy the lack of winter.
